“Central Alabama has experienced a one-two punch the last few weeks with tornadoes and severe weather,” says Susana Schuler, GM of WVTM Birmingham, Ala.
On Monday, January 25th, an EF-3 tornado hit the cities surrounding Birmingham, Alabama killing one person and leaving dozens injured. Today, WVTM in Birmingham Alabama, and the Mid Alabama Chapter of the American Red Cross are teaming up for tornado recovery and relief efforts.
“This state-of-the-art set with the technology and venues allows us to take the audience into stories, weather tracking and get to the heart of what matters to Central Alabama,” says Susana Schuler, WVTM’s general manager.
Close to 1,100 Alabamians made donations during the one-day fund raising event and several local corporate donors assisted in fundraising efforts. “In times of need the people of Alabama unite around each other and we truly want to thank our audience and corporate partners for their generosity ” said Susana Schuler, WVTM’s general manager.
