An ambitious new community project with goals to generate 20,000 hours of community service across 104 stations in 54 markets is being launched by Nexstar Broadcasting Group on Friday.
Nexstar Founder’s Day of Caring, offers employees paid hours of service to support local causes and intends to match every hour of community service with a corresponding dollar donation.
“Nexstar was founded two decades ago with one television station in Scranton, Pa., based on a commitment to deliver exceptional service to the local communities where we operate,” said Perry Sook, Nexstar’s founder and president.
“To this day, our employees’ unwavering dedication to the people and communities we serve across the United States has been fundamental to our success as we now own or provide services to 104 television stations in 54 markets. As our organization grows, we continue to simultaneously raise our commitment to support the evolving needs and interests of our local viewers, hometown businesses and community organizations that we proudly serve each day.”
Nexstar Founder’s Day of Caring marks 20 years of local programming and service by Nexstar in communities across the country.
“The launch of our inaugural Nexstar Founder’s Day of Caring is an extension of the exceptional work our local teams have done, and continue to do, to serve local communities across the country,” said Sook.
“To celebrate our 20th anniversary, Nexstar employees are invited to volunteer on behalf of local causes dedicated to making a positive difference in the local communities where they live and work. Each station will have a unique way of demonstrating its local community commitment and we are proud that our company continues to make meaningful contributions in serving the needs of the local markets where we operate.”
