11 One/Music was born after Randy Wachtler’s son Haden graduated from college, and the father-son team dreamed of building a new business together. “It’s kind of a neat thing for a father to work with his son who is interested in the business,” Wachtler says.
Randy Wachtler, former Warner Chappell Production Music CEO and founder of 615 Music, launched his new company 11 One/Music in May.
Wachtler founded 615 Music in 1985. The broadcast production music company composed television news music packages and custom image campaigns for many television networks and local stations. Warner Music Group acquired 615 Music in 2010.
11 One/Music was born after Wachtler’s son Haden graduated from college, and the father-son team dreamed of building a new business together.
The company opens with extensive news music packages and a robust production music library for news themes, advertising, sports, film and TV music.
Wachtler says 11 One/Music specializes in sonic branding with a different attitude.
“What I have learned from creative service people and marketing people at the station level and even at the group level is that many times they like to just try something new,” Wachtler says. “The station people we talk to say we wish there was something else. We wish there was another provider.”
Wachtler says he’s targeting both stations and national broadcasters.
“We know the local TV station business pretty well because I have been doing it for so long,” Wachtler says. “We want to service them with great news music and production music.”
Speaking of production music, Wachtler says he’s building a team of Nashville songwriters, composers and musicians to produce “original, eclectic, edgy and modern music.”
The composers have created 50 new music albums across five catalogs for 11 One/Music’s production music library. Plus, there are 13 news music packages available.
As to working with his son, Haden, a recent Southern Methodist University grad, “he is a sponge,” Wachtler says. “It’s kind of a neat thing for a father to work with his son who is interested in the business.
“What I like too is just his young eyes and ears. He is more in tune to what’s happening in his age range which is also valuable. I am deferring a lot to him on what mid-20-year-olds think.”
