First Coast Living, a lifestyle program from WTLV, Tegna’s NBC affiliate in Jacksonville, Fla., relaunched on June 26, going live with a new host and new look, making it the only live, full-hour show in the market. Previously, the show had been taped the day before due to COVID.
A new host, new graphics and going live “created the energy that was put around the show,” says Tim Thomas, WTLV GM since April 2023 (the station and co-owned WJXX are branded as First Coast News).
Jordan Wilkerson, a meteorologist, and a co-host of First Coast Living since September 2021 is now joined by co-host David Benfield.
Benfield is locally known in Jacksonville as a musician and actor.
“He is already invested in the community and continues to come up with ways to try to be more involved,” Thomas says.
Thomas says First Coast Living is entertaining, focused on what is happening in the community.
There are sales segments in the show “we are trying to produce that [are] more entertaining to watch,” he says. “It helps the business owner, and it also helps get their message out in a more clear way to the viewer.”
First Coast Living also relaunched with a graphics update.
“It brings a fresh feel to the show,” he says.
The relaunch was preceded by a countdown on social media.
Although the newly relaunched version of First Coast Living has been airing for only about a month, “the engagement is up and we are hearing from the viewers,” Thomas says. “That to me is an immediate good response.”
