When you think of the Guinness Book of Records, what comes to mind?
The guy with 31-inch biceps, bigger than some waistlines. Or Zac the parrot that completed the highest number of slam-dunks in a minute. Or the guy with the world’s largest drum kit.
But sometimes, earning a Guinness World Record can be good for all of us — and the environment.
Congrats to KDFW, the Fox affiliate in Dallas-Fort Worth market, and its partners, Comerica Bank and Iron Mountain, for winning the Guinness World Record for Most Paper Collected in a 24-Hour Period. Its fourth annual Shred Day held Saturday, April 25, just three days after Earth Day, set the new record with 401,925 pounds of paper collected in 24-hours, breaking the old record of 275, 000 pounds. The paper is turned into pulp to make recycled goods and products.
The event is held to raise awareness for identity theft protection.
