How do you create awareness for your digital channel that features older but classic television programming? Remind viewers of memorable people and places in your market.
That’s what WBAL, the Hearst NBC affiliate in Baltimore, is doing to promote its memorable entertainment on its subchannel that carries MeTV, which it brands MeTV Baltimore.
The station turned to WBAL’s recently retired news reporter, Rob Roblin, to front the spots that air primarily on WBAL.
“Rob was about as close to a feature reporter as we had at WBAL-TV,” said John Baldwin, WBAL’s creative services director.
“He filed many humorous reports over the years and was perfect to be the on-camera spokesperson for memorable people and places around Baltimore.”
Baldwin said as the campaign develops, future spots will focus more on MeTV Baltimore’s channel location and programming.
Got a MeTV affiliate that needs promotion? Here’s a memorable idea with merit.
