They (WHO-TV) weren’t the only Iowa station to provide political ad relief to their viewers. KWWL [Cedar Rapids] did it as well, and better if I do say so myself. Here’s one example:
And just this morning, I got this note from KWWL’s marketing director, Chris Hussey, along with several more examples of imaginative ads designed to relieve viewers of the anxiety caused by political ads.
Every election cycle we’ve done the “Political Ad Breaks.” With Iowa being a so hotly contested state, especially in this most recent race, we look at it as an effort to provide some relief for the viewers. Funny thing is, there must have been A LOT of viewer exhaustion to the ads this season as the feedback we’ve received from viewers to these spots has been the most ever. Easily over a dozen emails and calls (a lot for us for something positive like this).
And here’s another takeoff from KUSA, the Gannett-owned NBC affiliate in Denver.
