When you think about it, a local television news operation can be, and often is, a powerful change agent for good. Life in any given town, city, region or market is better thanks to you. You’re unbiased, leaning neither to the left or right, with the truth and the facts as your only goal and guide. No one and no place is beyond the reach of your cameras. No questions are too uncomfortable to ask.
What you believe in and work toward is a greater place to live for you, your viewers and your community. So why not just say it? Say this is what we stand for. This is what we believe in. This is what pushes us.
That’s what this new campaign from Global News does. It clearly and simply demonstrates that Global News believes in a greater Toronto. And after all, isn’t that what we all want for our communities? To be better, to be the best, to be great?
Not a bad ideal to stand for. What’s your news operation stand for?
“We wanted to create an effective slogan that people in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) would agree and identify with right away,” says Buffy McGaw, director of news marketing at Global News which is owned by Shaw Media.
“We continue to work very closely with our news editorial staff to ensure this brand lives within our newscasts every day. The stories we tell hit home with people of the GTA and therefore are impactful and very shareable through social media,” McGaw adds.
“We know The Greater Toronto Area has some big city issues to deal with, but we believe THE GTA will be great again, and Global News is helping to get it there. We brought this to light for viewers with this image campaign, yet we also advance it by carrying it through our proof-of-performance spots.”
