Christine Baron is the new creative services director at WPTV and WFLX, the NBC and Fox affiliates owned by Scripps in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Baron won’t have to get a new driver’s license since she’s just driving about four hours south from Jacksonville where, for the past 3 1/2 years, she was the promotions manager at WJXT, the independent station there owned by Graham Media Group.
I spoke with Baron last night as she was driving home from WJXT and she wanted to make sure Sherry Carpenter, her boss and creative services director at WJXT, got her props.
“Sherry has been my biggest mentor,” says Baron. “I interned under Sherry and she was my boss in my first job in TV.”
I joked that this wasn’t exactly the kindest way to pay Carpenter back.
“She raises good Chiclets,” laughed Baron as she rattled off a number of names of current creative services directors who at one point in time worked with Carpenter before getting their management stripes.
Here’s an Emmy Award winning morning news campaign from Baron.
And below that, what’s West Palm Beach and that area of Florida look like? Here are some videos from a trip I took there during Christmas 2009 to give you some idea of the area. The first video is just me biking around the island. The second is a quick video I took of Donald Trump’s place and finally, a little trip to the beach there.
