If you’re afraid of heights. Or if thoughts of tumbling endlessly down extremely steep mountains gives you nightmares.
When I watch the trailer for Outdside Television’s episode of Higher, featuring snowboarder Jeremy Jones, I think about his family, and how they must worry about him.
If I were a member of his family, I would confiscate his passport, get his driver’s license revoked, and duck-tape him to a chair in front of a warm fire in the living room.
If that didn’t cure him of his need to do his death-defying stunts on skis, I’d get him deep psychological counseling, consider institutionalization or strand him on a flat, deserted island.
At the very least, I would strongly advocate he find a new, safer hobby, like riding bucking broncos.
If all of that failed, I’d advise him to get his affairs in order, and make sure his life insurance is paid up.
Snowboarder Jeremy Jones is the 2013 National Geographic Adventurer of the Year. Not only does he snowboard down some of the steepest, highest, most unforgiving mountains on the planet, first, he climbs up them.
There are no ski-lifts where Jones skis. He’s all alone.
You can watch the episode of Higher on Outside Television on Saturday, Jan. 3, at 9 p.m. ET.
Outside Television is available in 35 of the top 50 markets.
And to Jeremy Jones, find something to do that won’t worry your family so much, like crocheting or collecting stamps.
