Devlin Design Group won the Gold Madallion Award for the set design for WAGA, the Fox O&O in Atlanta, at last week’s PromaxBDA Station Summit in Las Vegas.
Devlin won the same award last year for its set design for Fox’s KSAZ Phoenix.
Since the launch of the new set, the team at WAGA has been referring to it as an interactive stage.
Anchors and reporters are now able to interact with a story by using a wide array of technology.
Touch screens, social media kiosks and a number of video towers are featured on the set.
And the much talked about moving storytelling wall, which comes alive through motorized mechanics that can pivot a section of the video wall to invite viewers deeper into a story from a visual perspective.
One judge said: “Even though the set has very complex technology, the visual impact is very clean and easy for the viewer to understand. The talent stands out from the environment making the design head and shoulders above all of the other nominees.”
