Hearst-owned NBC affiliate WDSU New Orleans will air an hour-long documentary, Chronicle: Children Of Katrina, Saturday at 6 p.m., 10 years to the day that Hurricane Katrina struck.
Chronicle: Children Of Katrina tells the stories of five young people who lived through the storm and examines how that experience shaped their lives.
Each story provides a unique perspective of Katrina’s impact on the community, on how these individuals learned to move forward and in some cases, give back.
“The damage from Katrina was immeasurable,” says Jonathan Shelley, WDSU’s news director. “Yet, we learned that Katrina also challenged our youth to find themselves. Those featured in our report told us they simply weren’t going to let the storm defeat them.”
After Saturday, the documentary will be available for streaming from the station’s “Katrina 10 Years Forward” page on WDSU.com.
