Your NFL team is playing on Monday Night Football.
It’s a home game.
And your station is airing the game.
Most likely, viewership will be high. But to heighten awareness about the game being on your channel, (MNF games usually air on ESPN), and to show your news team’s support of the game, you create a series of fun spots to use as a countdown to the kick-off.
WRTV, the Scripps ABC affiliate in Indianapolis, is airing the Monday Night Football contest between the home team, the Indianapolis Colts, and the New York Jets on Sept. 21.
“WRTV took over Lucas Oil Stadium in downtown Indy for a couple hours,” says Paul Montgomery, WRTV’s creative services director, “and our talent got to have some fun playing a friendly game of football.
“The anchors literally had a ball on the field. We are releasing a new spot each week as we countdown to the kick-off on Sept. 21.”
