When the major networks like ABC, NBC, Fox, and CBS, launch a national ad campaign for their network news or a primetime entertainment show like Thursday Night Football, they usually send their affiliates a version of the promo they can customize.
It’s the same promo except there are black holes in the spot where the affiliates can insert shots of their on-air talent or beauty shots of their market.
It’s totally arbitrary; affiliates can take advantage of it or not. But it’s a quick and easy way for the affiliates to tie into their network and give their talent and town some face time.
Such was the case for KBOI, the CBS affiliate in Boise owned by Sinclair.
Joany D’Agostino, KBOI’s creative services director, sent me these two spots from CBS that her station customized.
The first one is the new graphically-driven, no-announcer, CBS News promo which is still airing. Can you pick out the shots from KBOI?
The second is for the launch of this season’s Thursday Night Football on CBS.
Joany and I both spent time in Colorado and Boise and she had this to say about the two places.
“Boise is pretty like Colorado Springs (mountains just a little smaller) and the people are great. The station is a good one, also.”
