Rhode Island viewers tuning in to WLNE Providence, R.I., on Saturday and Sunday nights at 5 minutes past midnight can not only see justice served, but get some laughs in the process on Caught in Providence.
Welcome to Providence Municipal Court, where Chief Municipal Court Judge Frank Caprio presides. The cases are mostly traffic offenses, parking tickets and minor criminal arraignments.
“You could never script the excuses that I hear before this court,” says Caprio.
Caught in Providence captures real people as their cases are heard live as it happens in front of Caprio.
“Expect the unexpected, from a real good laugh to tears,” he adds. “It’s live on tape and anything can happen.”
Caught In Providence developed a strong viewer base airing on Rhode Island’s cable interconnect.
“We are excited about bringing the popular series back to the WLNE latenight programming lineup,” says John Methia, WLNE’s broadcast operations director, “and introducing it to a wider Southern New England audience.”
