On April 9, a series of tornadoes touched down in southern Illinois.
For its coverage of the storms and its aftermath, WREX’s morning news received an Emmy award for Outstanding Achievement for News Programming from the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the National Academy for Television Arts & Sciences.
WREX is the NBC affiliate in Rockford owned by Quincy Newspapers.
“We are very humbled by this award,” said Josh Morgan, WREX’s news director, “and very proud to be recognized for all of the hard work that our staff puts in day-in and day-out. This is truly a team award.”
