Hear “wild Florida,” and most people picture spring breakers boozing on the beach.
Or retirees driving their golf carts too fast.
But there is a wild part of Florida not many people get to see.
The Forgotten Coast: Return to Wild Florida, is the story of three friends, a conservationist, a biologist and a photographer, who kayak, bike and walk 1,000 miles through Florida from the Everglades north to the Alabama line.
Following a sold-out premiere at the Tampa Theater, WUSF, the PBS station in Tampa, is debuting the documentary, The Forgotten Coast: Return to Wild Florida, on air tonight at 8.
WUSF has been a major sponsor of the project and will now distribute the film nationally to other PBS stations.
(Note: Although the special is not yet available for streaming, I promise to update you when it does become available.)
And shame on you if you’re reading this expecting a special about boozing spring breakers on the beach.
