WAVY and WVBT, Norfolk’s NBC and Fox affiliates owned by Media General, now boast Drone 10 as another tool to enhance aerial photography previously limited to its helicopter.
Drone 10 has the capability to record or feed high-definition video live while soaring up to 200 feet in the air.
The stations must follow strict FAA guidelines, submitting a flight plan 24-48-hours in advance of each flight.
It takes a team of three people to operate Drone 10; a pilot, a spotter and an operator.
“Paired with Chopper 10, Drone 10 ushers in a new era of stunning HD aerial news photography for our viewers in Hampton Roads,” said Jeff Myers, WAVY’s chief photographer and drone operator.
