Since 1982, when WDTN, Media General’s NBC affiliate in Dayton, Ohio, first developed the Food for Friends campaign, more than 13 million food items have been collected and distributed to needy families in the region.
“Dayton is the fourth hungriest city in America,” said Joe Abouzeid, WDTN’s general manager.
“WDTN is committed to fighting hunger and helping Miami Valley families in need.”
This year’s Food for Friends campaign, with sponsors Kroger, Dayton Power & Light Co. and the Utility Workers Union of America, runs through Dec. 24.
