Tonight at 7, Capitol Broadcasting’s CBS affiliate WRAL Raleigh, N.C., will present a half-hour long special, On the Record Special Edition: Faith, Fear and Freedom, about how the anti-Muslim rhetoric is impacting how Muslims live, work and worship.
David Crabtree, WRAL’s news anchor, will bring together Muslim leaders, scholars and community members for a conversation and the station is inviting viewers to ask questions via social media.
The live discussion will be followed by a 2012 documentary produced by WRAL that examines the anti-Islamic prejudice and discrimination fueled by the actions of Islamic extremists. The documentary focuses on the people of North Carolina and our Muslim neighbors.
How many Muslims live here and has that number grown in the last decade?
The documentary explores the Muslim faith, the pillars of their beliefs, what the religion says about peace versus violence.
How are Muslims monitored in NC? How are suspected extremists reported, and how many local arrests have been made?
WRAL will have a social media team interacting live during the program on Facebook and twitter.
