Farming is not new in North Carolina, but a new type of farm that’s popping up all over the state is generating controversy, and is the subject of a documentary on WRAL Raleigh.
Power Switch examines the explosive growth of solar energy and wind farms in the state and how they are become big business, but not without controversy.
Power Switch airs tonight at 7 on WRAL, the CBS affiliate owned by Capitol Broadcasting.
In 2014, more than $650 million was invested in solar installation with nearly 200 companies involved in solar production, employing about 5,600 people.
The state’s first large-scale, commercial wind farm is also under construction and studies are underway to determine the viability of offshore wind power generation.
The documentary, hosted by WRAL News anchor Bill Leslie, will be available for on-demand viewing any time after its television premiere.
