It’s OK, it’s a common greeting in Irish that means “A Hundred Thousand Welcomes.”
And it was the station’s way of announcing that it will be airing the St. Patrick’s Parade on Sunday, March 13, from noon to 3.
“We are so excited to be celebrating Irish and Irish American culture in our region by bringing this historic parade to Fox 29,” said Jim Driscoll, WTXF’s news director. WTXF is the Fox O&O in Philadelphia.
“To all its members we say ‘Cead Mile Failte,’ which means ‘A Hundred Thousand Welcomes’,” Driscoll added.
Over 20,000 participants and spectators are expected to attend the parade.
Here’s how WTFX interrupted its own morning news to make the announcement.
