ABC O&O WPVI’s Operation 6abc: Save a Life teams up with Philadelphia-area firefighters to help save lives by educating the community about fire prevention.
Plus, Operation 6abc: Save a Life will distribute 10,000 Kidde smoke alarms to local families in need. These donated alarms contain a battery proven to last a decade.
WPVI, with the help of local fire companies, has distributed nearly one million smoke alarms to people in the Delaware Valley.
More than 200 fire departments have received the smoke alarm donations which they install in homes of low income, elderly, and other residents at risk in their respective communities.
As part of the campaign, members of WPVI’s news team host outreach PSAs that air throughout January.
Kidde has donated smoke alarms annually through Operation 6abc: Save a Life for 15 years.
Other sponsors include Home Depot, local tristate Toyota Dealers and American Water Resources.
