Brian Brinkley, weekend sports anchor and 25-year veteran at Tribune’s KFOR Oklahoma City, has been named sports director at the NBC affil.
“The best candidate for this job turned out to be right here at the station,” said Natalie Hughes, KFOR’s news director, after a nationwide search.
Brinkley worked with legendary father-son sports duo, Bob Barry and Bob Barry Junior during his tenure at KFOR. Bob Barry Junior was killed eight months ago in a motor scooter accident.
”I’m humbled to be carrying on their legacy. They obviously set the standard for sports broadcasting in Oklahoma,” said Brinkley.
”Bob Senior took me under his wing and taught me everything I needed to know about doing this job the right way. Then, in the years that followed, Bobby showed me how to get the job done. And I still have a lot of fun doing it.”
