Chris Carter is retiring as sports director and anchor at Fox O&O WTVT Tampa, Fla., after 28 years.
When you’ve been a sports anchor for that long at the same station, you leave behind a considerable body of work.
A compilation of all his stories might take hours, or even days, to watch.
So as a tribute to Carter’s contribution to covering sports in Tampa, Mike House, WTVT’s VP of creative services, put together a reel of some promos the station created for Carter over the years.
“What they do is valuable,” said Carter in talking about the station’s marketing department,” people come up to me all the time and talk about a promo they did years ago.”
Carter says he has a few favorites.
“That’s a real NASCAR pit crew fixing the wheel on my chair.”
And he marvels at the spot that features all the sports mascots in the newsroom, even Osceola and Renegade, the official mascots of Florida State.
“I mean getting a horse in the newsroom is no easy feat.”
While most people move to Florida when they retire, not Carter. He’s moving back home to his beloved New England.
Thanks Chip.
