No this isn’t another version of “Old School.” And Gene Robinson isn’t starting up a new fraternity there in Tucson at the University of Arizona.
But he will be working as the new director of marketing and communications for Arizona Public Media, the member-supported, nonprofit based there.
Robinson is leaving his position as creative services director for KPHO, Meredith’s CBS affiliate in Phoenix; he starts his new job on March 21.
Arizona Public Media is the local affiliate for PBS and NPR that includes six TV and three radio stations, plus a lineup of offerings of community and educational outreach to southern Arizona and beyond.
“It’s more grassroots broadcasting,” said Robinson, “more mentoring to college and university students. It will have more of the feel and energy of a college campus.”
Robinson has worked in the public sector before as director of communications for the California Highway Patrol from 2010 to 2012.
Prior to that, he worked at KCRA Sacramento, Calif., for 25 years, the last 11 as the creative services director.
