WTAE, Hearst’s ABC affiliate in Pittsburgh, is aring an hour-long debate, commercial-free, debate tonight at 7 between the 3 Democratic candidates in the primary race for U. S. Senate for the state of Pennsylvania.
The station is partnering with The League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania to host the event which will be streamed live on WTAE.com and on WTAE’s Action News 4 app.
“It is a privilege to provide this debate to television stations across Pennsylvania,” said Charles W. Wolfertz III, WTAE general manager.
WTAE will simulcast the live debate on WGAL, Hearst’s NBC affiliate in Lancaster, Pa., and on additional television stations in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters.
“We are honored to provide viewers with the information they need to make a decision on Election Day,” said Justin Antoniotti, WTAE’s news director.
“It is just one example of our commitment to important coverage of the issues facing our commonwealth.”
“One of the best ways to prepare for Election Day is to learn about the candidates running for office,” said Susan Carty, The League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania president. “Working together with WTAE and the candidates is a great opportunity for us to help voters learn where the candidates stand on important issues.”
WTAE’s Chronicle host Sally Wiggin will moderate the debate and will be joined by four expert panelists, presenting questions to the candidates: Bob Mayo, WTAE reporter; Elaine Effort, KQV-AM Pittsburgh reporter; Carty; and Chris Potter, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette political reporter.
