WCVB, the Hearst ABC affiliate in Boston, won two regional Edward R. Murrow Awards in the large market category for Region 10 which includes Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. The awards are presented by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA).
WCVB won for Overall Excellence and Best Newscast for the seventh consecutive year, according to a statement from the station.
“Being honored for ‘Overall Excellence’ and best ‘Newscast’ by an organization as respected as the RTDNA is the highest form of praise,” said Bill Fine, WCVB’s general manager.
“Receiving these top regional honors by the RTDNA is a testament to the experience and dedication of WCVB’s team of exceptional, local journalists,” added Andrew Vrees, WCVB’s news director.
WCVB will now compete with other regional award winners from across the country for a national award. National award winners will be announced by RTDNA in June.
