An investigation into the relationship between a Camden, N.J., priest and his former secretary by WTXF, the Fox O&O in Philadelphia, has led the Diocese of Camden to open its own investigation into the priest’s behavior.
WTXF’s Jeff Cole got a tip from a parishioner urging the station to take a look at where Father Joel Arciga-Camarillo spends his time away from the church.
Cole’s three-week investigation revealed that the priest appeared to stay overnight at the home of his former secretary, a divorced mother of four. Father Camarillo says the woman is just a friend.
Father Camarillo worked with the woman when he was an administrator at St. Joseph Pro-Cathedral in Camden until he was reassigned in July.
