This is a good example of how I see Market Share working at its best.
I got a quick note from Stan Melton, WJLA’s creative services director. WJLA is Sinclair’s ABC affil in Washington.
Melton wanted to share a couple spots his station produced to show support to the victims and their families of the recent tragedy in Orlando.
A local CSD reaching out to let us know something that their station is doing right now that we can all share. That’s what this column is all about.
Thanks for sharing, Stan.
“WJLA-TV Senior Producer Leslie Estes produced this emotional spot using the voices of the Gay Men’s Chorus or Washington spontaneously singing We Shall Overcome in front of the White House Sunday night,” said Melton.
“At noon on Monday, WJLA extended a 5’x20’ banner in the middle of DuPont Circle in the District, asking viewers and passersby to sign messages of love and hope to our friends in Orlando,” said Melton.
“The banner was quickly covered in colorful greetings and well wishes, and Leslie used that as a basis for a second spot showcasing Washington’s outpouring of support.”
