But it’s one thing to see your station or company on a list as having won a 2016 PromaxBDA Local gold, silver or bronze award and it’s quite another to actually see the spot which won the award.
Here’s some award-winning examples from WGNO, Tribune’s ABC affiliate in New Orleans, with some background provided by Jeff Funk, the station’s creative services director.
“WGNO TV’s “God Bless Louisiana” is an ongoing campaign, an open book written for the passionate people of Louisiana. The primary goal is to showcase the true essence of Louisiana culture while continuing to reinforce “God Bless Louisiana” as WGNO’s overarching positioning statement.
“The “Water” that surrounds and fills the state is the lifeblood of its people and surrounding communities. It is rich with life, traditions and invaluable stories forever linked to Louisiana.
“Mama” is a poignant spot dedicated to the often sassy, very friendly and definitely one of a kind mothers in this great state of ours. Debuted around Mother’s Day week of 2015, it is a reminder that there truly is nothing like Louisiana mothers and the love they bring to those around them.
Every part of the GBL campaign needed to be as authentic, raw & local as possible. We used Louisiana native Ronnie Virgets as our VO who best understood the emotion and sweatiness of living in Louisiana. His takes were easy and always heartfelt.
The spots were shot by our promotions producers utilizing our Canon cameras and Zeiss lenses while edited 100% in house on Adobe Premiere.
The campaign has received local, regional and national recognition and is a critical part of the WGNO-TV’s identity according to research.”
