Who would have thought a half-hour special on Lyme disease airing at 10:30 on a Thursday night in New York City would do well in the ratings?
Lyme disease is an inflammatory disease caused by bacteria that are transmitted by ticks, an arachnid usually found in wooded, country areas, not concrete jungles like New York City.
“It did VERY well in the ratings and with comments on our YouTube video/ Facebook page,” wrote a spokesperson for the Fox O&O in New York, “showing that it’s certainly a topic that is resonating with New Yorkers.”
According to Fox, the special, Lyme & Reason, got a 0.9 rating among adults 25-54 when it aired at 10:30 p.m. on June 30.
Subsequently, the special was viewed more than 5,000 times on the station’s YouTube channel, and a Facebook Live special the day after had a reach of 100,000 that’s still growing.
