Montreal is not a city just clinging to its French heritage. It is defiantly decidedly all French. When we first parked outside to unload the suitcase, I tried to decipher what the parking signs were telling us about the rules. There was an hour on lundi (Monday) when we couldn’t park.
The plateau section of Montreal is very cool, more residential than touristy, super stylish and hip. I stick out like an ugly American tourist. There’s dozens of trendy bars, cafes and restaurants, all with open windows so the noise, the talking, the music spills out on the streets like a welcoming song. Off the main streets, the avenues are tree-lined, brick residential houses with curved metal staircases to the second and third floors.
Anyway, while I’m here, I will post at least one Market Share column every day as usual, although they may be somewhat short, as I’m subject to international rates for phone and text. We do have free wifi here at the apartment.
I intend to write more about the trip as the week goes on, kind of a travel guide, and you’ll be able to see them here. I’ll also alert Market Share readers when there is something new up.
Although there is nothing on my blog now about Montreal, there are a dozen or so articles mostly from a humor column I used to write in Texas.
