I love it when a TV station promotes from within. It’s good for morale, sends the right message to the staff. No waiting, no moving expenses, no introductory period while the new person figures out where the bathrooms are.
And that’s exactly what happened at WLNE, the ABC affiliate in Providence owned Citadel Communications, when it promoted Don Curtin to promotions manager.
Curtin is replacing Judy Shoemaker who is retiring after 22 years at the station.
Curtin, a native Rhode Islander, had held various jobs at the station since he started in 1999 as a Chyron operator. He’s been a news editor, a camera operator, graphic designer and director, IT manager and creative services producer.
“A talented designer and producer, Don has worked hand in hand with Judy for many years promoting the station,” said John Methia, WLNE’s director of operations.
“His passion and ‘can do’ attitude made him the obvious choice to take the helm of this very important position.”
