WJXT, the independent station in Jacksonville owned by Graham Media, documents how Jacksonville, a city considered too small to support an NFL franchise, landed one to become home of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Destiny: The Insider’s Story of How Jacksonville Won the Jaguars, airs tonight at 8 on WJXT.
“This story is bigger than sports and football,” said Bob Ellis, WJXT’s general manager.
“It’s about tenacity and the drive to never give up. Jacksonville, no question, was the underdog but some local big dreamers refused to give up and in the process changed the NFL and Jacksonville’s history.”
WJXT film crews spent nearly a year traveling the country and interviewing to get the behind-the-scenes story of how Jacksonville became the NFL’s 30th franchise, worth an estimated $1.5 billion.
