One of the things I learned about Teresa Weakley from an interactive gallery on the station’s website is that she was on the boy’s 8th grade wrestling team.
I roomed with some wrestlers in college and I can tell you without any doubt, don’t mess with wrestlers.
Teresa Weakley is the new morning news anchor at Nexstar’s NBC affil WOOD Grand Rapids, Mich., and if I was doing the promo for her, I would be tempted to use her wrestling prowess as the focus of the spot. Any young lady willing to get on the mat to wrestle with boys has got to be tough.
Luckily, the promo folks at WOOD nixed that idea.
Weakle, an Emmy-nominated journalist with more than 10 years of experience (and she also plays a mean fiddle), is returning to her West Michigan roots.
“It is already so nice to be back where I grew up and see my children make memories with our family here,” said Weakley.
“I’m excited to be a part of our viewers’ mornings and help keep them informed about what’s happening in West Michigan.”
“I’m sure viewers will immediately connect with Teresa and recognize her passion for journalism and love for West Michigan,” said Dan Boers, WOOD’s news director.
Connect with her on TV, fine, just don’t mess with her.
