The Happy Holiday promos for TV stations continue to come in.
If your station has created some Happy Holiday promos, either on-air or on Facebook, you’d like to share, please let me know by calling 817-578-6324 or email me at [email protected].
Next week, I’ll also be sharing some year-enders as well.
Here are some holiday promos from WNCT, Media General’s CBS affiliate in Greenville, N.C.
Marc Morriston, WNCT’s marketing director sent along these spots and some background.
“WNCT 9 On Your Side, the CBS affiliate in Greenville, North Carolina, wanted to do something a little different with our holiday promos this year. We decided to bring in two different Santa’s; one to shoot promos with our Morning Edition team, the other with our evening news team.
“We had two hours with each Santa to shoot four spots each. We tried to focus on the personalities of our Morning Edition team with individual spots for each of them and a joint spot. In the afternoon we did the same thing focusing on our 5, 6 and 11p team, our Chief Meteorologist, our 5:30/10pm Anchor and one with our sports director.
“We produced several separate spots ranging from 15’s to 30’s. The tone was light hearted and played into the personas of our on air people.
“Dontae Jones, our Morning Edition Meteorologist, is known for his love of coffee so we created a spot playing off of Santa’s love of cookies and milk and what would happen if the two people interacted.
“For our Chief Meteorologist Jerry Jackson, who is known for being heavily into the science of weather and for being very detailed with his forecasts, we imagined what would happen if Santa asked him how his weather would be for his yearly flight?
“What sets these apart for us is not only having Santa as part of them but the message at the end of the spot, wanting to remind our viewers that there are a lot of good local organizations that can use their help not only this time of year but really at any time of the year.
“The spot features promotion for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, The Humane Society, The American Red Cross, Alzheimer’s North Carolina, local Boys and Girls Clubs, The Salvation Army, Riley’s Army (a local charity focused on cancer awareness) and the Dash for Cash which is a 5k/10 mile run named after a local soldier killed in the line of duty and all money goes to scholarships.
“Throughout the year we do events with these different organizations and as a station take an active role in working with them to help Eastern North Carolina.
“We felt it was an important reminder this time of year that we help our partner agencies. We didn’t approach the organizations to tell them we were going to give them this extra promotion. We felt as a station that we wanted to give back to these groups the way they give back to our communities.
“Our Sports Director Brian Bailey, who’s been in the market for thirty years and is extremely well known and involved in charitable groups, wanted to front the message and we felt with his personality and recognition in the market it would really help sell the message of giving.
“I want to make sure that I mention that the spots were a complete marketing team effort of Aaron Bevill, Daniel Maloney and Chanel Wang.
“The entire Marketing Department really did a great job in working on the spots.”
