You’d need to find a pretty big tree to fit 15,000 toys under it.
And a really big truck to deliver them.
The WGN Morning News Drive-Thru Toy Drive celebrated its 14th year; its seventh tied to Jennifer Hudson.
WGN is Chicago’s independent station owned by Tribune.
The five-hour event featured Santa, holiday fun, and an appearance by Jennifer and Julia Hudson.
All toys will be donated to Jennifer & Julia Hudson’s Julian D. King Gift Foundation and will be dispersed Dec. 24 at St. Sabina Catholic Church in Chicago.
Jennifer Hudson’s Julian D. King Gift Foundation is named in honor of the singer-actress’s nephew Julian King. The purpose of the Foundation is to help provide holiday toys to needy children in Chicago.
WGN held satellite toy drives prior to today’s event. Viewers who dropped off new, unwrapped toys to the toy drop-off locations, received special offers from stores, vendors and other local businesses.
