WMAR, the ABC affiliate in Baltimore owned by Scripps, is airing the new documentary, Breaking Heroin’s Grip: Road to Recovery, Saturday night, Feb. 11 at 7.
In addition to WMAR, Breaking Heroin’s Grip: Road to Recovery will air on nearly 30 radio and TV stations in Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C., either simultaneously with Maryland Public Television’s Feb. 11 telecast or shortly thereafter.
The program also will be streamed on a special website, breakingheroin.com, and available on MPT’s YouTube channel.
The program is produced by Maryland Public Television (MPT) in association with the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
“This program is a great addition to our weekly news initiatives and our locally produced news programming,” said Bill Hooper, WMAR’s general manager.
“We are proud to be a partner with MPT in sharing this valuable programming.”
The broadcast event consists of a 40-minute documentary capturing first-hand accounts of individuals in urban, suburban and rural settings.
The broadcast also includes a 20-minute live phone bank program offering callers immediate information and assistance that may lead to treatment and recovery.
