Award-winning is work worthy of merit, according to the dictionary. Usually after careful consideration, often by a jury of your peers, awards are given to those who distinguish themselves.
There is no shortage of local TV news. In every market, there are four, five or more stations providing hours of it every day. So when a professional organization deems some news coverage as excellent, I like to share that news and those examples with the industry.
I believe that TVNewsCheck‘s Market Share is one of the few, if not the only, place where you can find both the announcement and see the examples.
WCVB, Hearst’s ABC affiliate in Boston, has won eight National Headliner Awards for excellence in journalism.
Founded in 1934 by the Press Club of Atlantic City, the National Headliner Awards program is one of the oldest and largest annual contests recognizing journalistic merit in the communications industry.
“We are truly humbled by this recognition and continue our undying commitment to live up to the journalistic standards set by the National Headliner Awards,” said Paige Harrison, WCVB’s news director.
