It’s a scenario all too familiar to most nearly every TV station writer/producer or manager: You have no time. You have no money, yet you’re expected to create an eye-catching, effective promo to recruit viewers.
And you nailed it!
Now here’s your chance for the glory at this year’s PromaxBDA Station Summit.
Suzanne Grethen from Hearst and Marty Frey from NBC are teaming up to present an inspiring new session, Zero Budget Magic: Doing More With Almost Nothing.
And they’re looking for the most creative, most innovative promos produced by local stations in-house for little to no money.
So, if you have some promos, PSAs, POPs, testimonials, news series, news image, station image, network and syndicator tie-ins or spots for your D2 channels, please send them their way.
TO SUBMIT: Just upload your spot to the PromaxBDA FTP site here: http://promax.tv/StationSummit-FTP
DEADLINE: Tuesday, June 13

NOTE: Frankly, and I think I can speak for many local TV creatives, most of the time, you create spots from news footage, font, sound effects, music and whatever wizardry you can muster.
It’s really the norm.
Here’s a spot I wrote and produced for WDSU back in 1990. All I had was several seconds of footage taken at an alligator farm. All the effects had to be pre-produced and then edited into the spot. Thanks to Steve Griggs, WDSU’s production editor, for helping me.
Here’s a spot edited non-linearly. Again, all we had was a photo of Don Imus. By the way, the end graphic was just us cutting out some letters and wiggling them on the floor and then speeding up the footage. Thanks to Mark Gilson at WINK for his help.
