WDIV, Graham’s NBC affiliate in Detroit, did news tease last night right before Jeopardy that pushed to Jeopardy and also the 11 o’clock news.
There’s a frenzy surrounding the syndicated game show these days as contestant James Holzhauer has been on a record-setting winning streak for the past 15 games. He’s won $1,135,175 so far and has broken records for top single-game totals.
“Our anchor, Kimberly Gill, had just returned from maternity leave, so the jokes were alluding to the hard time she’s having leaving her three-month-old son, Basil, at home while she’s back to work,” said Donna Harper, WDIV’s creative services director.
“Thought it would make for a fun story about how our local TV station is tapping into a captive audience with some humor while still promoting the return of our anchor and our 11pm newscast.”
