WLKY, Hearst’s CBS affiliate in Louisville, Ky., will debut a new weekend anchor team along with new times starting Saturday, June 18. Madeline Carter and Shaquille Lord will co-anchor WLKY News on Weekend Mornings alongside meteorologist Susanne Horgan.
“We wanted to drive home talent names with faces, while integrating the viewer benefits that are delivered in our Live. Local. Late Breaking-style news coverage,” says Paul Chaplin, WLKY’s creative services director. “CBS was nice enough to shoot lines with the Saturday talent to help create a synergy between our two brands.”
Carter joins WLKY from KNDU-KNDO-TV in Tri Cities, Wash., where she was an anchor and reporter for the weekday morning news. Her move to WLKY is a homecoming, bringing her closer to family and friends in Frankfort and Louisville.
Lord joined WLKY in early 2019 and during his tenure has reported on some of the biggest stories in the community. He was born in the West Indies on the island of Trinidad & Tobago and moved to New York at the age of 6. He credits his grandmother for his passion for journalism as they watched the news together every night.

“Madeline and Shaquille are two energetic, positive individuals who really enjoy serving their community as local journalists,” says Andrea Stahlman, WLKY’s news director. “I’m excited to have them join Susanne Horgan on the weekend morning newscasts. I’m also really looking forward to reaching a new audience in the 9am hour on Saturdays, just as we do Monday through Friday.”
