Jason Martinez, news anchor on WTXF in Philadelphia, is the butt of the joke in a promo for the station’s Super Bowl coverage.
You have to hand it to Jason Martinez, weekday evenings news anchor on WTXF, Fox 29 in Philadelphia.
He’s being left home and left out of the station’s coverage of the Eagles in Phoenix for the Super Bowl. Then he’s asked to be in a promo for the station’s coverage that makes him the butt of a joke.
What a good sport.
“This Super Bowl campaign epitomizes our brand, We Go There,” Martinez says. “I love joining forces with the morning team to remind our audience that we’re a family.”
Oh, the irony. Fox 29’s brand is We Go There, except for Jason Martinez.

“We wanted to highlight the talent actually going to Phoenix while leaning into our We Go There brand and what makes us uniquely Fox 29 — our cast of on-air personalities, our willingness to be real, let loose, and, although we take our jobs seriously, we never take ourselves too seriously,” says Alissa Frick, WTXF’s creative services director.
It’s a clever and memorable way to promote the fact that Mike Jerrick and Alex Holley, co-anchors of WTXF’s morning news, Good Day Philadelphia, and Shiba Russell, co-anchor of the station’s weekday evening newscasts, are going to Phoenix to cover the Eagles for the Super Bowl.
