“Letitia checked all the boxes when we set out to fill our News Director position,” says Jake Manship, WBRZ CEO. “Her experience in the Baton Rouge area and knowledge about our station made this an easy choice.”
Letitia Walker has been appointed news director of WBRZ, the ABC affiliate in Baton Rouge owned by the Manship family, one of Louisiana’s oldest family-owned media businesses.
“Letitia checked all the boxes when we set out to fill our News Director position,” says Jake Manship, WBRZ CEO. “She is a top-notch journalist who aligns with WBRZ’s community-first focus. Her experience in the Baton Rouge area and knowledge about our station made this an easy choice.” Walker starts on Monday, March 4.
Walker is a Louisiana native and a graduate of the Manship School of Mass Communication at LSU. She began her career at WBRZ as an intern and production assistant, and she has since gone on to earn numerous awards, including a regional Emmy award, RTDNA Edward R. Murrow Awards, and honors from the Society of Professional Journalists and the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters.
“I’m grateful to the Manship family for this opportunity to return to Channel 2 and lead the newsroom where it all began for me,” Walker says. “I’ve always admired WBRZ’s place in the community and their commitment to investigative journalism in Louisiana, and I can’t wait to join this group of talented journalists.”
Walker most recently was a news director in Lake Charles and Lafayette, both Louisiana, and she was an executive producer in New Orleans. She has also worked as a reporter and producer, and she has served as a speaker/panelist at industry conferences. Letitia is passionate about mentoring up-and-coming content creators and journalists.
