“The response and generosity of our community has been nothing short of inspirational,” says Lois Thome, WINK’s news anchor, who has been at the forefront of this campaign.
WINK, Fort Myers Broadcasting’s CBS affiliate in Fort Myers, Fla., announces that the “March to a Million Meals” campaign has exceeded its ambitious goal, providing 1,169,059 meals, equivalent to $584,530, to families in need across Southwest Florida, and the campaign hasn’t ended.
Launched with the mission to combat food insecurity in Southwest Florida, the campaign aimed to harness the collective power of individual contributions to make a significant impact and to “March” during the month of February to a goal of a Million Meals by March 1.
The overwhelming response underscores the generosity and empathy of WINK viewers and partners, who have gone above and beyond to support their fellow residents.
“The response and generosity of our community has been nothing short of inspirational,” says Lois Thome, WINK’s news anchor, who has been at the forefront of this campaign. “People in Southwest Florida care about their neighbors and will do whatever it takes to make sure children, seniors, and working families are fed.”
For just $6, the price of a morning latte, contributors have provided a day’s worth of meals to a family of four.
