New jobs posted to TVNewsCheck’s Media Job Center include openings for a news director, meteorologist, and marketing and promotions producers for Nexstar, Graham Media, Meredith and Gray stations.
And that’s the point.
How people think and feel about what’s in the news, politics and other issues like the pandemic and racism, is being used by some local stations to hold news viewers deeper into newscasts and in some cases, drive them to upcomng newscasts. And what people care about is also being used to drive them to stations’ websites, apps and other social media platforms.
“In terrible times like this pandemic, this was an example of a city and region at its best,” said Erik Schrader, WOIO’s general manager. “I received a text from one of our charities when I asked them about the results. They said it best. ‘It was the generosity of those who had little to give because they have little themselves. That’s Cleveland’.”

When a local TV station invests millions to own and operate its own helicopter, it expects that chopper to be promoted as part of the station’s coverage brand. And so we’ll see examples of how local TV stations around the country have promoted their choppers over the years
