Once you’ve been the national TV correspondent for Hearst Television in Washington, D.C., reporting for dozens of the group’s stations across the country, what do you next?
Sally Kidd, who handed in her resignation in March after 17 years covering “thousands of stories, interviews and live shots, 100s of congressional hearings and White House briefings, four presidents, two impeachments, one insurrection and a global pandemic,” has joined Antenna, recently named one of the best PR firms in America for 2022.
“When considering my next career chapter, I was looking for a position that would allow me to take all of the experience I cultivated as a journalist and use it in a new and different way, for the public good,” Kidd says. “I wanted to be able to advocate for an organization or champion a cause, rather than be a neutral observer reporting from the sidelines, as I was throughout my journalism career.”
Kidd says Antenna is an integrated marketing and public relations firm that’s been around for over 20 years (with offices in New York, Washington, Chicago, Detroit, San Francisco and Hackensack, N.J.).
“Their client roster includes innovators, entrepreneurs, and industry trailblazers in the energy, tech, healthcare, mobility, and financial sectors,” Kidd says. “Last September they opened a public affairs practice in DC. I’m joining the public affairs practice, so I’ll be working in D.C.”
According to Kidd, Antenna helps elevate companies and organizations working to address the climate crisis, embrace sustainability and build a healthier environment. Antenna’s clients span the clean energy, tech, mobility, health and financial sectors and include innovators and problem solvers who are having a positive impact on the planet.
“One of the things that really stood out to me about Antenna is its work with companies in the clean energy and climate-tech space, as well as its own company-wide commitment to fight climate change,” Kidd says. “The firm doesn’t just pay lip service to this; it requires all clients to sign a climate pledge, which includes a commitment to reduce their own greenhouse gas emissions. The fact that it is a mission-driven agency really appealed to me.”
