In a new campaign from WGN, Nexstar’s independent station in Chicago, a few viewers were surprised with the opportunity to forecast the weather. CJ Dugan, a senior producer at WGN, says he wanted to “highlight that who you get the weather from is just as important as how you get it.”
Many viewers think they can forecast the weather on TV as good as the local TV meteorologists.
Until given the chance.
In a new campaign from WGN, Nexstar’s independent station in Chicago, a few viewers were surprised with the opportunity to forecast the weather.
According to the station, WGN asked its fans to participate in a fun concept. A select few were invited to the WGN studios with no knowledge of what they would be asked to do.
“We had a bit of fun surprising a few viewers with an opportunity to forecast the weather,” says CJ Dugan, a senior producer at WGN. “And as the spots demonstrate, the weather wasn’t the only surprise we had for them.”
In conceptualizing the campaign, Dugan says he wanted to highlight that who you get the weather from is just as important as how you get it.”
