WDRB Louisville, Ky., launched its new live-streaming local news show, WDRB+ LIVE at 10 a.m. this week, and tackles the top five morning stories with a more in-depth and relaxed discussion-style presentation.
WDRB, Block Communications’ Fox affiliate in Louisville, Ky., launched its new live-streaming local news show, WDRB+ LIVE at 10 a.m. this week.
The program livestreams weekdays and tackles the top five morning stories with a more in-depth and relaxed discussion-style presentation.
“In a landscape where consumers engage with content through diverse channels, we are thrilled to provide an exclusive live news show via our free WDRB+ streaming app,” says Dale R. Woods, WDRB’s general manager. “This innovative approach continues to give our audience access to quality news in all different ways, anywhere, anytime.”
The unique newscast-podcast format features WDRB News hosts Monica Harkins and Julie Dolan.
“We’ve been able to craft a new news show style that will be informative and engaging in a whole new way,” Harkins says. “It’s going to be a little bit different from what folks are used to seeing, we’ve got a different setup even in the studio, with the mics that come out more like a podcast.”
“People have been cutting the cord, so to speak, for years, so the WDRB+ platform allows us to reach viewers in a new way,” Dolan says. “What’s so unique is that the daily live show has no set length, we can go 30 minutes or 40 minutes depending on the news of the day.”
“Our primary focus with WDRB+ has been enhancing the user experience, and 10am is an underserved time to connect with our audience,” says Josh Kidd, WDRB+ director.
The WDRB+ app is a free streaming service accessible on Roku, FireTV, AppleTV and mobile devices. The platform provides a diverse range of content, including a 24/7 news channel, live sports coverage, and an exclusive lineup of original news shows.
